The St John Rigby Student Council is made up of two pupil reps per class; a main and vice person and all are voted onto the council by their classmates. The Council meets every four weeks and the pupils bring ideas from their classes to the meeting.
We are very proud of our School Council for arranging the clearance and tidying up of Stacey's Garden (a memorial garden) an audit of play equipment for both KS1 and 2 playgrounds and they have also used money from their allocated budget to buy basketball, footballs, skipping ropes and tennis balls.
The Student Council has been involved in forming a Play Leaders group to help staff at lunchtimes and there are a rota of pupils from KS2 doing this, which has proved to be very popular with the leaders and the KS1 students.
The Student Council have also been involved in the interviews of the new Assistant Heads, as well as being interviewed themselves about Behaviour for Learning and the school rewards and sanctions policy by someone doing a study on this.
The Student Council particularly enjoyed taking part in school food tasting sessions for the school meal providers, Relish.
The Student Council lead on various charity fundraising events throughout the year.
