"God's will be done through work and play, as we follow Jesus day by day"
"Catholic schools are an essential part of the mission of the Church: to place Christ and the teaching of the Church at the centre of people’s lives, and to form and develop in young people the inspiration to live their lives fully as Christians. This gives rise to an educational endeavour centred on the person of Jesus Christ who is our Way, Truth and Life."
St John Rigby is a school, inspired by Jesus Christ’s example. We nurture and develop the whole child so that each unique individual grows strong in God’s love and is enabled to have an active mindset, a sense of empathy and compassion, as well as aspiration and ambition to become what God calls them to be.
Our Catholic identity permeates all areas of school life and our faith is central to all we do. Worship is an integral part of our school community and staff, children and parents/carers are provided with rich opportunities to encounter God, and high-quality experiences of liturgy and prayer supports their spiritual journey. We aim for our community to develop a personal relationship with God, become aware of the Church year and the sacramental links, as well as reflect and respond to the message of the scripture.
This is clearly a Catholic school, with prayer and liturgy at its heart. Pupils, staff, and parents talk enthusiastically about the variety of provision and its positive impact on their lives. Pupils in this school are kind, accepting and tolerant of differences because of the school’s practical application of faith formation and virtues education. Leaders are skilled and inspirational role models, and it is through their hard work and resilience that [Catholic Education] is are so well regarded by their community. The Catholic life of our school creates a stimulating learning experience so that our children become confident, independent and resilient with a social conscience for their journey through life. And by placing Christ at the centre of all that we are and all that we do, we have the potential to promote the “fullness of Christian life” through an “…educational philosophy in which faith, culture and life are brought into harmony.” Christ at the Centre (2012)
