Uniform is important at St John Rigby because it reinforces who we are as a community and allows our children to have a sense belonging. It is also important in that it encourages a sense of pride and self-respect for the way our children present themselves, whilst making sure children are not put under any pressure because of the type of clothes they wear; it is inclusive, and they are all treated equally.
All uniform can be purchased online from our supplier, Mapac (Facebook @MapacGroupLtd) or from Josens-Schoolwear either in store or online. Many items of clothing, e.g. Grey skirts & trousers, are available at some retails stores and superstores. The school also offers clothing sales or support with purchasing uniform - please contact the school for a confidential conversation.
Children have the option of wearing the Summer uniform listed below during the Summer term and up to October Half-term, when the weather can still be warm
In all cases of school uniform, the school will determine what is reasonable and what is not.
***Please ensure all items of clothing and footwear are clearly labelled with your child's name so, if lost, it can be easily returned***

HAIR and MAKE-UP
For health and safety reasons, all children with long hair (shoulder-length) must have this tied back. All accessories must be practical for school (e.g avoiding large bows or tassels) and should be yellow, white or black only.
Whilst we respect the backgrounds, cultures and beliefs of all our families, we expect all children to maintain appropriate and sensible hairstyles which is at the discretion of the Headteacher and Senior Staff. Extreme fashion styles, artificial colouring or haircuts that could serve as a distraction to other children, are not permitted.
Make up and cosmetics, including (but not limited to) nail varnish, lip gloss or henna tattoos, are not considered appropriate or consistent with our school uniform. The school does not permit such products to be worn by any children, unless there is a specific event for which the Headteacher has given permission.
